Don't know if it's entirely true but I heard we are to collect £1M as sell-on clause in Antonio's transfer.

Long Haired Haggis at Preston for a medical.

Give the lad a break Tiberius.
He ran his heart out , but just couldn't bridge the huge gap between English and Scottish football. He may still come good , but clearly we can't hang about waiting to find out. Just hope we get someone in - I'm getting worried with only 20 minutes to go!!

2.) 01 Sep 2015 18:16:09
We've got until 8pm if we sent the paperwork by 6pm

3.) 01 Sep 2015 20:44:40
Good luck to the lad, at least until Preston play us when I hope he has a stinker. I think part of his failure was as you say the gap between English and Scottish football but a big part of it was the quality of our attack last season or lack of it. There was too much pressure on the strikers as there were few goals from the rest of the team so he was snatching at chances that weren't always there and as his confidence dropped his form got worse which is a never ending spiral.
I'm not worried in the slightest that we haven't signed anyone I think our squad is more than good enough. It isn't that desparate to sign a striker as we are now getting goals from all around the team.

4.) 01 Sep 2015 21:22:38
Good luck to SM as he deserves regular football elsewhere for his work ethic alone.
He was given a 'square go', but it just didn't happen.
(hope he doesn't score against us this season)

5.) 02 Sep 2015 00:14:38
i agree our squad looks quality but you still need at least 1 out and out Striker and Nuhiu isn't it, Lucas Joao looks like he's got everything needed to cut it in the Championship but he's definitely not ready yet and it's just my opinion but without a proper number 9 we'll struggle to finish in the top 6.

6.) 02 Sep 2015 08:03:35
I don't think this season has been about getting into the top six from the start, more just a good top half of the table finish. I think with our previous performances in the league and having an unknown manager we could never attract the quality of player we need to make the push to top six so this year is all about consolidation and getting a good base of a team together to make the push for promotion next season. It has always been said by Chansiri that it is a two year plan.

7.) 02 Sep 2015 09:19:13
Fully agree on that statement, 13.

8.) 03 Sep 2015 16:46:07
when does the loan market close? looks like we probably will loan a striker with a view to buy.

{Ed001's Note - November.}

9.) 03 Sep 2015 21:52:29
The Loan window opens in a week or two.

If this guy from France is as good a defender as he's supposed to be, does this mean he will slip in at RB thus releasing Palmer for his normal midfield roll. Could save us a lot of money in the long run.

1.) 01 Sep 2014 09:39:59
The report on the internet suggests that he is a centre back or left back. That would indicate that he is more likely to be seen as an alternative to Mattock

2.) More likely that Tom Lees would move to RB, and as you say we could then see Palmer develop in to the MF player he promises to be?

3.) I heard on good authority, SG is looking to play 3 5 2, which would require 3 decent centre halves

4.) Royston drenthe signed winger from reading lost a bit of confidence but very exciting if sg can get it back played for some big clubs real madrid paid 14 million euros so got some talent

Sorry should have been Lopez

I totally agree!!
Would just like to know why??

Don't think the editor was impressed with my post and only printed my erratum.

{Ed001's Note - nothing else came through mate, I did add a note saying that but must have cleared that before submitting sorry.

Can't remember the exact text, however the gist of it was - Where is Phillipe Melo? The guy totally bossed the game against Brentford and then disappeared. I realised later he was one of Roeder's acquisitions. With regard to McGuggan's absence according to Radio Pig he's the one who has asked to go out on loan. You can form your own opinion, it is Radio Pig after all. Surely he's a much better midfield player than Lopez who does absolutely nothing for me but then again he's one of Carlos The Jackal's signings. Now I find out we've signed yet another midfielder. The eleven you need to keep happy are the eleven not playing and at the moment we have plenty of them.

I seem to remember back in early June suggesting Big Nige would be an ideal option given his history with us.

tiberius

1.) 02 Jul 2015 22:02:01
Yes I seem to remember he was gainfully employed in the premier league at the time

20 Jun 2015 11:48:52
Everything but everything points to Roeder being the main instigator in all the problems we have at the moment. How did he inveigle himself into this job? I had great expectations for the coming season but now it all seems gloom and despondency, not even a pre-season fixture list.

1.) 20 Jun 2015 13:03:31
Failed player failed manager and one boring person. I said when he was appointed it was a bad move

2.) 21 Jun 2015 07:47:33
If we start a get roeder out campaign before a ball is kicked DC might see some sense 😂

3.) 21 Jun 2015 15:18:06
Totally agree,Norwich. Sitting still and saying nothing will achieve nothing.

15 Jan 2015 17:49:11
With regard to today's poll it just goes to show what a total d**khead Roy Hodgson is.

tiberius

1.) I'd say that it was an intelligent statement.
Those players are the icing on the cake but players like Macherano are the unsung heroes who give those players the opportunity to shine.
Unfortunately, England have neither.

09 Jan 2015 12:33:07
I suppose being entirely cynical about this signing, he's a lot cheaper than forking out for McGugan. However at 19 years old, what about our own younger midfielders. The likes of McCabe and Corry never have chance to show how much they have progressed (or not) within our "development" squad.

tiberius

1.) Do you think the fact they're not playing might suggest that they haven't progressed enough?

Hope this is true but would be even more impressed if we signed Pudil on a permanent basis. Best LB we've had for years.

Logical place is 96 acre site on Shepcote Lane - derelict and right at side of motorway plus plenty of room to park.

Can't see Mr. Chansiri putting up with this for much longer. He's invested a lot of money, which has been ill spent, for virtually no return. The two major culprits seem to be Messers Roeder who appears to buy just for the fun of it and Carlos the Jackal who does not understand English Championship football.

Looks like Big Sam may be out of a job at the end of the season, along with Jurgen Klopp if they carry on losing.

Let's hope the rumour is true because his name's been bandied about to be next England manager and that would be absolutely catastrophic.

I'm sure he was on Wednesday's books as a youngster and "left" because of some dubious activities. When he was playing for Stocksbridge PS he was never included in night matches. One has to wonder if there was an underlying reason for all those omissions.

Why are we looking at someone who is now nowhere near as good as he was 10 years ago. You can't turn back the clock - it doesn't work.
Let's stick with the strikers we have and attempt to find the right balance.
After last Wednesday's fiasco, it was almost like watching The Fat Controller's tactics - playing at home and one up front - lump it big and hope for the best. Two shots at goal all game - just not good enough. I don't know how they had the audacity to collect their wages after that showing. There was not one player who stood out all night.
