Couldn't help but think on Saturday what an improved player Mattock is. He's one of several who have really come on under SG's stewardship. In fact, while we may not have any so-called superstars in this team, we are strong in every position. With quality players like Lee and Hutchinson to come back in, and the 2 new players we are yet to really see, things are looking good for the season.
One of the keys to our success so far has been the ability to field a fairly settled side - in fact, a very settled defence. The goals against record shows the benefit. I heard it said on radio that this is exactly what Burnley were able to do last year. So, who knows where we can finish if we remain relatively injury free.
But, there is a long way to go yet - so enjoy the moment, and hopefully enjoy the journey if it takes us onwards and upwards.

If you listen to ex players and other managers speak about SG you begin to understand how well respected he is within the game. His coaching has been phenomenal, to get such a consistent level of performance from one of the smallest (in budget and size) squads in the Championship is quite impressive. Add to that his shrewd transfer business and it's easy to understand why. The players he has brought in are all hungry for success and a desire to achieve great things with this club, you can see it in the way they play for the jersey and each other. I'm not naive enough to think it's all going to be plain sailing. We'll go through sticky spells with injuries etc, it's inevitable but what I am sure of is that when the going gets tough, this team will dig in and fight and that is great testament to SG and his methods. Just to add, we should not lose sight of the fact that MM had the balls to promote him to head coach instead of hiring one of the usual suspects. WTID

Although, if I had to watch your back line every week, think I would want to get as far away as possible - be a nervous wreck otherwise !! Good job we've got an inept front line.

Thought he was a rock again today, but I know you'll drum up some more statistics to prove otherwise.
Bet you're relieved we're not drinking in another SIX pack tonight though !
